Nigeria Set to Escape FIFA Ban!

With the Monday noon deadline given to Nigeria by football world governing body, FIFA, to correct the anomaly in the administration of football in the country about to expire in few hours from now, there appears to be hope that the country may escape the hammer.

THISDAY learnt at the weekend that the Presidency in Abuja has made contact with FIFA on the deadline, assuring the men in the Football House in Zurich, Switzerland that there was no need for the ban as only the Amaju Melvin Pinnick led board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was in charge of football matters in the country. Moses, Iheanacho Face Fresh Obstacles In EPL

Chelsea winger, Victor Moses and Leicester City attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho are facing fresh obstacles and rounds of anxiety in the English Premier League, as both Nigerian players have again become largely ineffectual at their respective clubs.

Such it was again this weekend, as Moses was benched for all 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 3-2 win against Arsenal, while Iheanacho played only the last eight minutes for The Foxes in their 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers. DSS tightens security at NFF as FIFA deadline expires

The Department of State Services has said its operatives are occupying the headquarters of the Nigeria Football Federation in  Abuja in order  to avoid breakdown of law and order at the secretariat.

Golden Eaglets’ coach Submits Eaglets’ Provisional List

Cadet national team, Golden Eaglets’ coach, Manu Garba has submitted a provisional list of 25 players to Confederation of African Football (CAF), ahead of next month’s outing in the African U-17 Nations Cup zonal qualifiers.

Manu barely beat the deadline to submit his provisional list, as he had to get 10 more players to undergo the mandatory MRI test, after 15 failed the original scans.

FIFA suspension deadline: Pinnick foresees end to NFF crisis

AS the clock ticks  and the Monday, August 20 deadline given to Nigeria by FIFA to put its football house in order, Nigeria Football Federation president, Amaju Pinnick said things will be resolved amicably and Nigeria will escape a FIFA suspension.

This is coming on the heels of an attempt by Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung to have a dialogue with officials of the world soccer governing body, but he was snubbed. As at yesterday evening, there was no sign that the Nigerian government had acceded to FIFA instructions to hand the secretariat of the NFF to the Amaju Pinnick faction of the NFF that it recognises.
