Allegri’s Juventus team brought their treble ambition back to life yesterday with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham hostspor at Wembley stadium. The result was an unexpected one considering the ruthlessness of the London side at home so far this season.
The Italian club began the 2017/2018 Seria A season in a slow fashion with Napoli taking an early surge in the title race. The last season Champions league finalist began the continental race in a very poor fashion as they were hammered 3-0 at Camp Nou on match-day 1. The early fumble by the Italian club could be attributed to the summer departure of high profile players such as Dani Alves and leornado Bonucci to PSG and A.C Milan respectively. The club also suffered injury crisis as well lack of form but their ambitions was brought back on track with victory over league leaders in Naples. The club’s first leg draw against Tottenham hotspur came as a surprise to the footballing world as the Old lady gave away an early 2 goal lead to draw the game 2-2 with Higuain missing from the spot before the end of the first interval. The Juventus of last season rarely conceded goals especially in Turin with the 3-0 hammering of Barcelona in mind. The Italian outfit were also know with winning in all the matches the have scored first.
The result compounded their treble hopes with club still behind league leaders Napoli in the Italian top flight division but within a space of 5 days, the fire of hope have been rekindled. It all began with the weekend visit to Lazio while Napoli hosted Roma in Naples. The old lady won their game against Lazio 1-0 while Napoli was hammered at home by Roma 4-2. The Outcome reduced the point difference between Juventus and Napoli to a single point though Juventus an outstanding game in hand with the reverse fixture in Turin likely to settle the title race. The Wednesday victory over spurs at Wembley stadium summed it up for the Italian side which have proven that they have what it takes to lift the continental silverware.
Surely it’s still early to predict who will lift the silverware this term but the Italian outfit have surely made their point. Watch out We are not Push-overs.
