The Golden Eaglet of Nigeria yesterday defeated Ghana on penalty kicks to pick the sole ticket of the U17 AFCON 2019 championship in Niger.

Their victory have attracted a lot of attention from a lot of Sports official with Babagana Kali joining the list. The former Nigeria international in a statement said:

“I watched the boys in Niger Republic when they played, and I knew they have what it takes to win the tournament, haven watched other teams played what they need is focus, and determination to win the tournaments”. “I am not surprised that they won the WAFU B tournament, they have really shown the right character and the right attitudes required”.

Nigeria footballers have struggled to maintain consistency since the days of Kanu Nwankwo, Celestine Babayaro, Festus Odini, Mobil Oparaku and the former El Kanemi footballer believes the current crop of players could bring back those memories.

“For me, watching those young talented players gave me a flashback memories of my days as a player in 1993 with the likes of Kanu Nwankwo, Celestine Babayaro, Festus Odini, Mobil Oparaku, and many others when we played the qualifiers together”.

Babagana however urged the players not to relent on their current achievement but maintain focus and because of the future.

“I urge the boys not to relent on their effort, be calm, cool headed and they should remain focus because there is a promising future ahead of them where they can become greater than the predecessors we have in Nigeria ready”. Babagana said.

“My prayers for them is that they should become great and discipline to show the world that Nigeria have Bunch of wonderful talents come may in Tanzanian”.
