Chelsea according to media reports held talks with Matt Hummel’s agent over a potential deal in January. The 30 yr old has fallen out of favour with Bayern manager Kovac who seems to prefer a partnership of Jerome Boateng and Niklas Sule at the heart of his defense. Media handle Bild reports that Hummels is unhappy at Bayern Munich is keen for a move in the January transfer window.

The German international’s agent Marc Kosicke visited London and held talks with both Chelsea and Tottenham over a possible switch for his client who has 2 years left in his Bayern Munich terms of agreement.

However, the chairman of the Bavarian club Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted that the defender will remain with the club till the end of the current season.

‘We had a conversation with Mats a few days ago and he will play for Bayern Munich in the second half of the season,’ he told Bild

Bayern’s sport director Hasan Salihamidzic also admitted to have talked to Matt Hummels over his current situation.

‘We talked to Mats, it was a good conversation,’ he said.

‘Mats feels very well in Munich, and if a player does not always play, it is clear that there are discussions. ‘Mats wanted to talk to us. We explained our point of view to him and he explained his point of view. ‘I think that we came to a common denominator.’
