Tiemoue Bakayako seems to be adapting to live at the San Siro, and his recent performance in the Rosseneiri’s 2-1 victory over Genoa was tagged by Milan boss as an impressive one. Gattuso commended the French midfielder for his performance but however admitted that “Milan needed to improve”.
“I didn’t think we were good enough after going 1-0 up”. “We made mistakes on the counter and didn’t go far with the ball. For how we’ve prepared these two games, for all the men we’ve lost, we did well, even if we could’ve done better.
“It’s a step forward. Now we have to stay here. We know it’s difficult, but for all the talk there’s been, for everything we’ve been through, it’s something important.
“Now we have to do well at staying up there. We haven’t achieved anything yet. Now we have to play as a team because we still don’t do it at times.
“I’m happy for the result but as for peace of mind, we still have progress to make in that regard. Criticism? I just blow my whistle and train the team.
“I’ve always had the same relationship with everyone. I’ve always experienced it like this. I won’t be the first or last Coach who is having a difficult time.
“I’m not calm as we haven’t done anything yet. We have some gaps in many aspects of our play.
“Bakayoko had a great game today. We developed ball possession well, but then we got afraid and could no longer build well from the back.
“We must improve. It’s a path we must take. Biglia’s old scar flared up. When we talk about calves, we know it can be serious.”
Bakayoko will be hoping to improve on his performance at the San Siro as he hopes to revive his career.
