Chelsea tactician Maurizio Sarri has reechoed a statement he made at th beginning of the season when the club struggled for consistency. The Chelsea trainer revealed that the London club was not in the title race and the defeat against to Wolves have justified

Chelsea lost to the side 2-1 at the Molineux to slip back into the fourth spot with 10 points separating the side from league leaders Manchester City. Chelsea will lurk horns with the Manchester side on Sunday, with Sarri believing in the quality of his player to take down the Manchester side.

Manchester City are in another category. They are not in our category,” Sarri said.

“We have to play and fight to stay in the top four. In the last championship in Italy, I lost the title with 91 points [at Napoli], so I know how important it is to win. It’s a difficult result to stay in the top four.

“City are the best team in Europe, maybe the world. Maybe they can win the Champions League, but it depends on moments. Last season they were the best team in the Champions League but in two matches [against Liverpool] they didn’t play, maybe not in the best moment for them.”

The Last time Chelsea met the Manchester club, the score line ended 3-1 in the FA community shield prior to the start of the current season. Chelsea lost to the side home and away last season, and will be avoiding a 13 points gap which could place the side in fourth spot.

“The match is difficult for this reason. Of course, after this match we lost confidence. But maybe it’s better, because sometimes my players show me they have too much confidence.”
