De Gea according to reports is focused on winning and not contract extension amidst speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.

De Gea’s terms of agreement with the Red Devils expires in the summer of 2019, but the Old Trafford club has an option of extending his stay by a year according to the clause of his current agreement. However, Jose Mourinho doubt whether the Spanish shot-stopper will commit his future to the Manchester club for another one year.

The 27yr old was Real Madrid’s wishlist for a long time before the Los Blancos secured the services of Belgian shot-stopper Thaibaut Courtois last summer.

The Red Devils 2018/2019 season have gone off on a disastrous note with the Manchester club struggling to get a grip in the league, and De Gea is determined to contribute his quota to ensure the clubs bounces back to form.

“What matters is the team and all of us being focused on what we need to focus on, which is winning games, rather than contracts or any topics that can be a distraction,” De Gea told Sky Sports. “What matters is focusing on football.

“We have an important game against Everton and we have some big fixtures over the coming months. I think that’s what matters, rather than thinking about anything else.

“I’ve been here for many seasons, as we’ve said. I’ve been at the club for eight seasons now. I’m very happy here. I always feel that warmth from the fans and everyone who works at the club.”

Manchester United will host Merseyside outfit Everton on Sunday, hope to get a result that could rekindle their top four hopes.
