Enyimba Fc of Aba have been drawn to face Kano Pillars in what could be called a classic affair in the round of eight in the Aiteo Cup.
From the draws conducted by the Nigerian Football Federation on Friday, Kwara United take on Kastina United in Lagos, Nasarawa United battle El-Kanemi warriors in Aba while Rangers and Akwa United lurks horns in Kano.
The Big one no doubt will be between the People’s Elephant and the Pillars which already been shifted from the official game date of October 3rd and 4th due to Enyimba’s involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Meanwhile Rivers United boss Stanley Eguma has lamented his team’s departure from the tournament.
Rivers United failed to record a victory in their group stage match making them to finish below Aba Warriors, Kano Pillars and Kwara United.
Eguma blamed his team woes on the failure of his centre-forward when presented with goal chance.
He said, “It was a bad tournament for us and I believe that we have disappointed our fans. We came with a good tactical plan to go far in the competition but it didn’t work the way we planned. Our opponents defended well while our strikers failed to convert the chances they got. We will go back to work harder for next season.”
