Genort Rohr according to reports is planning to call in-form Mainz center forward Anthony Ujah to his Super Eagles team when they face Libya in a 2-leg affair next month in the AFCON 2019 qualifying round of games.
The Super Eagle’s tactician was forced to have a rethink about Ujah when the Mainz number 20 netted his second consecutive goal for his club in the current season despite coming from the bench last weekend.
Ujah seems to have been a forgotten player for the national team with the player yet to earn a call-up for over three years. The last time he won the Super Eagle’s jersey in a competitive game was in a goalless draw against Tanzania in the African cup of Nations qualifying round of games on September 5, 2015.
The center forward’s lack of game-time last season caused him a place in the Rohr’s World cup team, as he was omitted from the list of players despite meeting Rohr at the airport in Frankfurt.
Rohr have now shown him the green light with his recent statement. Rohr speaking as a consultant on Bundesliga on Europe 1, said: “We are scouting him, we could remember him for the next games”.
It’s important to note that Ujah was a member of former Nigeria boss Stephen Keshi’s team that played the 2013 confederation cup in Brazil. The center forward also feature against Tahiti in the 2013 competition.
