Maurizio Sarri once again deployed Eden Hazard in the center forward position, and the Belgium international did not disappoint as he recorded a goal and an assist.
Hazard by every statistic had a nice game, but not Sarri’s approach as the former Napoli trainer wants more from the Belgian international.
In interview as quoted by Football London, Sarri said: “I think that, for us, he could be very important in this position. He’s very able to come out and play with his team-mates, very able to create spaces. Now I think that, in that position, he has to improve in attacking the box.”
Hazard is believed to have enjoyed his outing on Sunday as Chelsea played more open and attacking football. However the former Lille playmaker has insisted that he would love to more involved in the game and not being a mere target man for opposition backline to feast on.
“You know me, I always enjoy my football. We have top players on the team, so we understand each other, more now than at the beginning of the season, so yeah, we just want to be on the pitch and create something.”
However being involved in the game, involves being prone to injure as tackles will be flying left, right and centre.
Hazard however suffered an injury in the fixture but responded that it was not as serious as speculated.
In an interview with club website Hazard said: “You know me, I always enjoy my football. We have top players on the team, so we understand each other, more now than at the beginning of the season, so yeah, we just want to be on the pitch and create something.”
Sarri also backed Hazard in his interview after the game. He said: “Eden is okay. It’s only a knock, only a knock. I spoke with the doctor five minutes ago and it’s not a big problem. Maybe one day to rest, two days at most.”
