According to the Evening Standard that Jorginho has agreed terms over a five-year contract with Chelsea after flying in to undergo his medical ahead of a £57.4m move from Napoli.

The Brazilian-born midfielder has been one of the most sought-after players in Europe this summer after enjoying an impressive four-year spell at Napoli since joining from Verona in 2014. The 26-year-old was a star player for Maurizio Sarri’s side that challenged Juventus all the way in the Serie A title race last season.

The South American who opted to represent Italy at international level has attracted interest from the Premier League with Manchester City the front-runners for his signature in recent months.

However, the Evening Standard revealed that Chelsea has hijacked their proposed deal, and a total of £57.4m fee has been agreed with Napoli and the midfielder is now believed to have flown-in to London to undergo his medical.

The newspaper says personal terms have been agreed over a five-year contract that will see Jorginho paid around £102,000-a-week so as long as there are no late issue, then the midfielder is set to complete his move over the weekend.

Chelsea have endured a troubled summer so far with managerial uncertainty meaning they have yet to make a major signing so Jorginho is expected to become the first new arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been on the lookout for another midfielder as Tiemoue Bakayoko endured a frustrating debut season in England while Danny Drinkwater is set to leave after struggling to establish himself in west London.

Jorginho will be a big upgrade and he has the potential to form a formidable partnership alongside N’Golo Kante in the middle of the park next season so I think he will be a superb signing for Chelsea.
