The Old Lady club has completed a surprising transfer for the current world best player Cristiano Ronaldo, but Juventus hierarchy revealed that it’s the 33-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, who first opted for the move.

The five time Ballon D’Or winner was the person that made the first move about his intention of joining the Italian Champions as revealed by Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Morrata.

Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in a club record deal of €100m (£88m/$117m) plus €12m (£10.5/$14m) in additional charges, as he signed a four year contract that will earn him a total of  €30 million (£26.5m/$35m) per year.

The Serie A Champions previously tried snapping the Portuguese forward when he was a teenager, but the deal was later hijacked by Manchester United from which he later joined Madrid.

It was Ronaldo himself that contacted Juventus for a move following Real Madrid Champions League win over Liverpool last May. As his agent Jorge Mendes, was in a transfer talks with the Italian giants over Joao Cancelo’s move to Turin, the 33-year-old first made contact with the Serie A Champions, which left them with an easy approach in signing him.

Juventus chief executive Marrota told Corriere della Serra after capturing the Portuguese ace that (The real protagonists of this team are the player himself and the Juventus shareholders. It was Cristiano Ronaldo who was the first to believe in this, the first to launch it. He chose Juve, and when we understood that we could seize this opportunity, the shareholders of the club agreed to support the move. I insist, it was a great team game. It all began when we started dealing with Joao Cancelo, who has the same agent of Ronaldo).

However, Juventus signing of Ronaldo has created a big atmosphere around Turin as the fans in Italy and around the world showed how excited they are via social media. while former Juventus and Italian star Alessandro Del Piero believes the five time Ballon D’Or will charge his new club to clinch the Champions League crown as he did with United and Real Madrid, however, Brazil Legend Pele supported the move, saying its right for Ronaldo to seek another challenge elsewhere.
