Liverpool Manager Jurgen Kloop, have admitted the quality of Eden Hazard following the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Eden Hazard came off from the bench in the second interval of the game, as Chelsea came from a goal down to defeat the Merseyside team at Anfield.
Hazard’s winner made more headline than the entire game as he scored one of the best goals in the history of the League cup. The Belgian nutmegged Firminho at the center of the park, shrugging off challenge from Naby Keita before getting the better of Alberto Moreno inside the box and fired a powerful shot beyond Simon Mignolet 5 minutes from time.
“I would say it’s pretty easy to say that here (in the press conference) because it was Eden Hazard and when he is on a run, he is on a run – but of course we could have defended better,” Klopp responded when asked whether his players could have better prevented the winner.
The Belgian has been in superb form in the current season with 5 goals before the latest tally at Anfield on Wednesday night, and this could be one of his best for Chelsea this season.
“I didn’t see it back so far so I will have to see it again. I thought we lost the ball up front, I am not 100 per cent sure, and it was pretty quick.”
“Then, in the box, Eden Hazard at full speed, with his turns, it’s not easy. We scored a similar goal a week or so ago and it’s difficult to defend, but of course it is better to defend and we know that. I don’t know in the moment how but tomorrow I will know,” the German tactician added.
Hazard’s goal ended Liverpool’s 100 percent unbeaten run in all competition in the current football season, but the Merseyside will be presented with a rare chance for their pound of flesh when they visit Stamford Bridge in the weekend.
