According to Skysports, Liverpool are set to drop their interest in Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson. The player, who currently plies his trade in Serie A with Roma enjoyed a brilliant campaign with the Italian side in the outgone season and has quickly become one of the most in-demand shotstoppers in world football, but it would suggest that The Reds are unwilling to meet his £80m valuation, which would be a new world record price for a goalkeeper.
Alisson is not too sold on the idea of moving to Anfield, and is reported to be holding out for a move to Real Madrid. Alisson was brilliant for Eusebio Di Francesco’s team last season, keeping 17 clean sheets in Serie A, only second behind Pepe Reina of Napoli. Chelsea goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois is entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is also the subject of interest from Madrid, as he would represent a cheaper and more established option to Alisson given his contract situation.
It is believed that Chelsea will make a move for Alisson if Courtois moves to the Santiago Bernabeu. Alisson is currently with the Brazil squad preparing for the World Cup and is set to start in goal for the Selecao, ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson. Liverpool are in the transfer market for a new goalkeeper following the disastrous performance of Loris Karius in the Champions League.
They have been linked to Burnley’s Nick Pope and Jack Butland of Stoke City, who will represent cheaper options to Alisson.
