La Liga-The last day of the Summer Transfer Window of 2015, will be remembered nostalgically by fans of Manchester United and Real Madrid alike, more because of what could have been that wasn’t to be ultimately. During that Summer Real Madrid had identified Spain number 1, David De Gea as their primary target to permanently replace ousted goalie and former skipper Iker Casillas. As has become accustomed to Madrid, they moved for their target and a deal had appeared to be struck with Manchester United accepting erstwhile Real Madrid goal Keeper and Costa Rican number one, Keylor Navas, in addition to cash in exchange for De Gea.
All had appeared to be in place for the transfer to happen but that it did not will continue to be arguably take top place when failed transfers are being discussed. Manchester United and Real Madrid, two of the world’s most prestigious and wealthiest clubs, somehow, inexplicably, failed to fax a document that was necessary for the transfer. In the wake of the embarrassing incident both clubs had traded responsibility for the mishap with each of them laying blame and culpability at the doorstep of the other.
Keylor Navas, another subject of the transfer, said that he spent the last few hours of the window at the Madrid airport waiting for the call, which never came,  to proceed to Manchester for his medical and other transfer formalities.
However, it seems the dream of De Gea to wear the famous white of Madrid is still a possibility as it has been for some time now with United having to refute suggestions that De Gea would be moving soon on a number of occasions. However for it to happen it has to be next summer or never if the United ace is to move to Santiago Bernabeu.
The Mirror, citing reports in Spain, says Madrid president Florentino Perez “has sounded a warning to De Gea” that his club will move for Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois if a transfer cannot be achieved by then.
According to the mirror Perez has “put a deadline on next summer to get the deal done,” with Courtois firmly in their sights.
Recent reports said Chelsea were set to step up talks over a new deal for Courtois amid continuing Madrid speculation.
The Belgium international has less than two years left on his current contract but has indicated that he is content to leave the talking until the end of the season, sparking renewed interest from Madrid.
