Jose Mourinho seems desperate to keep Juan Mata amidst interest from rival club Arsenal, but the Sun reports that he is facing a tough battle to do so. Mata will be out of contract next summer, and reports suggests that the Spaniard is in the wish list of Arsenal boss Unai Emery.
Juan Mata prior to the current season, was among the list of players to be offloaded from the theatre of dreams. However, his recent surge back to form seems to have made Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to rethink his plans. The Spaniard has played crucial roles in the clubs last three league game, and this have seen the Manchester club pick 7 points from a possible nine.
The Sun says “time is running out” for United to agree new terms with the player who Mourinho managed at Stamford Bridge — and Arsenal “are monitoring the situation closely.”
Reports also revealed that Juan Mata will agree to remain at Old Trafford on the condition that he gains plenty of game-time. Valencia is reported to be also considering a reunion with their player.
Mourinho “is desperate to hold on to the experienced player, who he allowed to move to United when he was in charge at Chelsea” — but those in charge at Old Trafford will need to act swiftly.
Mata, 30, would be able to start negotiating with overseas clubs in January if no new deal is agreed.
