According to reports from Don Balon, Manchester United could be set to make a massive bid for French sensation, Kylian Mbappe. The Red Devils are in the transfer market for a marquee signing and have identified the teenager as the player they need to challenge for the Premier League title and also make an assault on the Champions League. Mbappe, despite his tender years is already one of the best players in the world and lived up to the hype sorrounding him by scoring 21 goals for PSG last term.
He stunned the football world with an impressive breakout season for Monaco in the 2016/2017 campaign, scoring 26 goals to help the principality outfit win the Ligue 1 and reach the Champions League semifinals. Mbappe could be open to a move to the Premier League as he is not playing in his preferred central position with Les Parisiens and is also second fiddle at the club behind Brazilian superstar Neymar. PSG are hoping that by offloading Mbappe for around £230m, they can convince Neymar to stick around, as the 26-year-old has stated that he sees the youngster as a potential rival for the Ballon D’Or.
Mbappe is the second most expensive player of all time, as PSG signed him for £166m, meaning that United will need a big-money offer to tempt the French champions into selling him. United have been linked with the likes of Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann, but in Mbappe, Jose Mourinho could sign a truly talented and world class player that still has enough room for improvement. The £230m fee could be reduced to £165m though, as United are prepared to include Anthony Martial as a makeweight in the deal.
Mbappe is a player that is known for his technical brilliance, ability to play anywhere across the final third, and is an excellent finisher. He is currently with the French squad for the World Cup and has been handed the no 10 jersey, hoping to emulate the likes of Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane.
