yon President Jean-Michel Aulas has hinted at Manchester United’s interest in Liverpool and Real Madrid target Nabil Fekir.
The French player was seen and admired by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as his favoured transfer target to replace Philippe Coutinho who left for Barcelona during the January transfer window and since then Fekir has been strongly linked with the Anfield side.
His £53m moved to Liverpool was almost but confirmed both by the player and his representatives in the eve of the world cup, this was after he had been interviewed with the Liverpool official website, but what made the deal not going through at die minute is still a story for another day.
Although, it was believed that why the deal fell through was because of his medical result which stated that concerned Liverpool officials asked Lyon to reduce the amount because of his previous knee injury.
However, the player maker’s agent spoke last week that their negotiation with Liverpool will continue once the world cup is over.
Fekir has played for France in both of the country’s games in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. He came on as a substitute against both Australia and Denmark. For Lyon, Fekir appeared 30 times last season, scoring 18 times and assisting eight times.
In an interview that Aulas gave to BeIN Sports, he stated at Manchester United’s interest in the winger. He said (I was with Jose Mourinho the other day, We had long discussions, Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool. At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup, It was expected at a certain point for him to go to Liverpool. I gave the green light. It did not happen because things were dragged out too long).
If Mourinho gets his man, he will be United third signing of the summer making United more solid to challenge City to the premier league crown next season.
