Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho seems to have made a U-Turn on his earlier decision to allow right back Darmain to depart the club in the next window. The Portuguese according to reports from ESPN is worried about the fitness level Antonio Valencia and Diego Dalot, who both are in the sidelines.

The Injuries situation of the two defenders, has forced Darmain back into contention as he has made the bench in the club’s last six games in all competition.

Darmain was heavily linked with a move to Juventus last summer, the transfer stalled at the very last minute. That happened despite the former Torino man publicly declaring that he wants to go back to Italy.

He told Italian newspaper Libero: “United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, anyone must deserve the place and I work in light of this.

“But of course I’d rather play more, even if it means leaving Manchester; where I dream of going back to is Italy, in Serie A, where I got a lot of satisfaction.”

Mourinho is believed to want to keep him till summer in a bid to ensure that the club does not run in deficiency of defenders given that he can feature in both left and right position of defense.

Ashley Young and Luke Shaw have served as first choice defenders lately but behind Shaw, United have little depth.

The Italian international is out of contract at the end of the season, although the club can activate a 12-month extension in order to try and earn a fee from any exit.

United are already in talks with Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young, David De Gea and Anthony Martial for possible contract extension

But recent reports indicate Jose Mourinho is prepared to offload Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo by January as he seeks a new centre half.
