Chelsea are ready to offer David Luiz a new deal and are expected to sign a talented young defender by January window.

The Brazilian endured a difficult spell under Antonio Conte, with his fate at the Bridge uncertain. The Brazilian defender however, has found a new breath of life since the arrival of Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri. Luiz under Sarri has become a regular feature with 7 consecutive appearance in the Premier league.

According to Evening Standard, Chelsea have opened up talks of contract extension with the former PSG defender whose contract expires by next summer.

The same report claims that Maurizio Sarri also interested in signing a young central defender as Cahill seems exit bound. Sarri came close to landing Daniele Rugani last summer, but Juventus refused to sell their defender.

Speaking with the media after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool last weekend, Luiz suggested that he would happy to extend his stay with the London club to continue his relationship with Sarri.

“In the first week I spoke with him. I said to him that I am going to work hard to show you I want to play in your team, with your philosophy”,’ he said.

‘I had two offers from different clubs but I told Chelsea I wanted to stay. Would I have gone if Conte stayed? For sure. ‘But they changed for Sarri and I have tried to convince Sarri I want to stay at Chelsea. I am playing now and enjoying it. I didn’t play (for most of) the last six months (under Conte). ‘Sarri is human, he wants us to take pleasure in playing football. He said every day we have to enjoy it.’
