Italian Media Outlet Corriere dell Sera has described Genoa striker Krzystof Piatek as the best summer transfer of the Italian topflight division ahead of Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Italian handle highlighting the importance of goals as focus.
Despite the huge gap in their transfer fee, Piatek has scored 13 league goals, which is a goal behind the Portuguese talisman who is in 14.
“The goals are counted but they are all equal only in fantasy football. In reality, each of them have a different weight in terms of points won. The Genoa striker was a real deal for Preziosi, who signed him for only 4 million euros and Piatek has immediately shown his qualities, scoring 13 goals, only one less than Ronaldo, who cost 100 million,” the paper wrote.
“If this was not enough, his goals have much higher importance for Genoa than Ronaldo’s for Juventus. The 13 goals of the Polish striker have guaranteed the Rossoblu 10 of the total 20 points in the standings. Second in the rankings in this sense is Duvan Zapata, followed by Fabio Quagliarella, the man of impossible and beautiful goals but also important ones.
Though Ronaldo leads the goal standings, Piatek believes that the difference in quality between the two clubs also plays a part.
“Just outside the podium, there is Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star leads the top scorer ranking with 14 goals but as it was said by the same Piatek a while account: “One thing is to play at Genoa and another playing in a great team.”
