The departure of Riyadh Mahrez to Manchester city could be a dream come true for a certain Kelechi Iheanacho who looks to reinvent himself in the world football. The Super eagle’s player needs no introduction as his 2015 heroics at the U-17 world football tournament earned him huge admirations and interest from all over the European continent.

Ihenacho despite his young age impressed when called upon and this earned him a starting betting ahead of Wilfred Bony in the Maurocio Pellegrini’s team. The arrival of Pep Guardiola brought a negative change in the fortunes of the Nigerian prodigy as he fail out of favour with the Spaniard. The arrival of Gabriel Jesus meant that the Nigerian player had to find a new club.

Iheanacho despite his level of commitment last season failed to break in into the starting lineup of the Foxes as Riyad Mahrez dazzled but the recent departure of the Algerian could change everything. Mahrez recently joined Manchester city in a deal believed to be 60 million pounds leaving the right wing position vacant. Algerian’s exit provides huge chances for the Nigerian prodigy to develop with enough game-time.

Iheanacho once referred to as the footballer with the lethal left-foot is once again presented with an oppurtuinity to player in his desired right-wing. It could be recalled that the Nigerian player have been deployed in his favoured position sparingly at Leicester city and Nigeria as he was recently fielded in striking position in the World football tournament in Russia.

Riyadh Mahrez no doubt dazzled during his term at the King Power stadium. Iheanacho no doubt possesses similar traits with the Algerian with a combination pace, power, skill, vision and brilliance which makes him suited for the position. The question remains whether Ihenacho could be able replicate or surpass the heroics of the Algerian. Only Time and the Nigerian prodigy can tell.
