Chelsea began their account of the Europa league with a 1-0 victory over Paok in Greece. Willian’s goal 7 minutes into the game was enough to for the Blues to grab all three points. While Chelsea secured all three points, Morata’s below par performance created more headline with Sarri pinpointing his woes in his post-match interview.
“We were in control of the match for 90 minutes,” head coach Sarri said. “We have had a lot of opportunities. We missed several”. “So I am really very happy with the three points, very happy with the performance, but I am not very happy with the result”. “When it is time to kill the match we have to kill the match.”
The Spain international have netted 3 times since the beginning of the 2018 year with a single goal in the current season.
Sarri is reported sweating on Morata’s form in-front of goal but prai, sed his contribution and improvement.
“Alvaro has to gain confidence with one, two, three goals,” Sarri added. “I am not able to give him confidence. In this match he has had three, four opportunities. He was unlucky”. “I hope for him that in the future I can try to help him, but the confidence can come only with goals”. “I have to say also, for maybe the first time in this season Alvaro was ready in the box. He was on the ball and was active.”
Chelsea’s victory had to come at a cost as Pedro sustained an injury towards the closing stages of the game, and is certainly going to miss out of Chelsea’s visit to West Ham in the weekend.
