Mourinho and Pogba were the happy party, after the final whistle was blown on Friday night as both parties responded to critics with a 2-1 home victory over Leicester city. Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba were on target, as Manchester united nullified late Vardy attempt. Jose Mourinho surprised analyst by handing Paul Pogba a start despite the fact that Frenchman returned to training last week.

Pogba have been linked with a move away from the Barcelona, with the media suggesting a possible rift between the France international and the Portuguese. The France international despite all the reports of rift, proved his maturity by converting a spot kick early on in the game to gift club faithful something to cheer for after their disastrous summer window.

Jose Mourinho in his post-match conference, lavished praise on the French midfielder while hinting on the team’s lack of Sharpness. Mourinho said, “Pogba was a monster,” said Mourinho. “We thought maximum (he could play) 60 minutes, but he managed 80”. “Paul was fantastic, his contribution was amazing but the fuel was disappearing. We were in trouble,” added Mourinho. “I don’t remember in my career to be in so much in trouble to make my changes because I wanted to make five or six and I could only make three.”

The host took the lead from the spot after Amartey handball. The penalty was contested between Sanchez and Pogba but the Frenchman took the penalty. “We don’t have a penalty taker, it’s how we feel and I decided to take it. Maybe on the next game I leave it to Alexis,” said Pogba. “I didn’t have any pre-season games, I came back on Monday so it was very hard for the legs.”

Mourinho finally hinted at a difficult season for the club due to the inactivity in the last transfer window. He said, “It will be a difficult season for everybody, not just for us”. “I had my plans for many months and I find myself with the market closed in a situation I did not think I would be in.”
