Mourinho, according to the Star has remove Manchester United’s captaincy position from Frenchman Paul Pogba.
The former Juventus midfielder has stood in as captain in the absence of Antonio Valencia in the current season, but Mourinho is understood to have accuse the 2018 World cup winner of believing that he is bigger than the Old Trafford club, a source from Carrington revealed.
“Jose told the players that Pogba will not be the captain because he doesn’t represent what a captain is and Manchester United is bigger than anyone. The players were happy with that decision and the reasons behind the manager’s decision”.
Pogba has been in series of off the pitch problems with the Portuguese tactician with reports of him departing the Old Trafford in the next window, but it’s believed that the recent antics of the Frenchman following the 1-1 draw with Wolves last weekend could be the point of no return. Pogba appeared to have blame Jose Mourinho’s defensive tactics for the draw with Wolves on Saturday, a result that have kept the Red Devils 8 points behind league leaders Liverpool in the title race. Though quoted out of context or misunderstood, what is done have been done and can’t be undone.
Mourinho’s decision to withdraw his captaincy role could spell the beginning of the end for the Juventus midfielder with reports having it that Pogba will seek a move away from the club next window.
