Chelsea FC who have failed twice to lure Napoli’s Dries Mertens to Stamford Bridge, have decided to launch another bid to try resign the Belgium attacker immediately if  Maurizio Sarri  takes over from Antonio Conte.

The forward has enjoyed two prolific seasons at the San Paolo, but if signed for the Blues Mertens won’t play as a direct striker but will play in opposite direction with his compatriot Eden Hazard.

The Napoli forward whose release clause of €28 million expired last month which will now allow the Italian club decide his fate, it is believed the playmaker will cost around €40m now.

He will operate as false nine or outright winger for Chelsea if signed, Maurizio Sarri if becomes next Blues manager will pair him with Eden Hazard behind the main striker.

Former Chelsea Coach Carlo Ancelotti replaced Sarri last month with Azzurri’s who appointed Ancelloti despite still having contract with Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea fans have been dreaming for the club to make moves in the current transfer despite not settling with who will be in charge at the helm next season.
