General Secretary of the Nigerian football federation, Dr Muhammad Sanusi have tasked Nigerians to still keep faith in the super Falcons in their ongoing U-20 football tournament. The Nigerian team had to hold off China in a 1-1 draw to make it to the round of 8.
“After the 1-1 draw against China that ensured that the Falconets reached the quarter-finals, I believe this will boost them and raise the confidence in going further in the championship. The girls and their officials will continue to work hard to better their previous record of losing in the final twice,” Sanusi stated
“All we are asking for is for Nigerians to continue to support the team with prayers for the team to excel in the FIFA under-20 women World Cup holding in France. I am happy with the way the team came from the dead to snatch a late equalizer and book their place in the quarter-finals.”
He however assured the Falcons of the support of the Pinnick led NFF Board who are highly optimistic of the Falcons lifting the trophy. He also added that the NFF are ready to meet their financial obligations.
Former coach of the national senior women’s team Edwin Okon also lent his voice to the NFF by congratulating the female team. He also tipped them for success in the tournament while insisting that the team work on their goals citing 2010 set as example.
