The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play the Cranes of Uganda in an international friendly on Tuesday 20th November at the Stephen Keshi stadium Asaba.

The fixture comes barely three days after the Nigerian team has played their crucial African Cup of Nations qualifying game against South Africa at Johannesburg.

Uganda host Cape Verde on the 17th of November at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Kampala in 2019 AFCON qualifying clash of Group L.

Both Countries sit at the summit of their respective groups and looks set to qualify for the 2019 edition of the AFCON competition in Cameroun.

Nigeria has nine points after four round of games, and needs to defeat South Africa in Johannesburg or get four points in their last two games to qualify. Uganda on the other hand needs a point to cement their place for the next year’s continental showpiece.

Statistics has it that the last time Uganda and Nigeria lurked horns in a friendly tournament back in 2015 at Akwa Ibom international stadium, the Cranes humbled the Super Eagles 1-0.

These however indicate that the Nigerian team will be wary of the threat posed by the African side and will approach the game with caution. Though media outlets suggest the friendly match could be more of a victory match for the two sides who might have qualified the 2019 continental showpiece by then.
