Chelsea seems complete in all position, but the center forward remains a position that will define the club’s overall success in the current season. The center-forward position have only contributed a goal to the Chelsea’s league ambition.
Maurizio Sarri could be thinking of another solution for the misfiring position. The London club allowed Michy Batshuayi to depart to Valencia on loan while Tammy Abraham was loaned to Aston Villa. While these players were loaned out, Lucas Piazon somewhat was omitted from the list. The Brazilian have been a constant loan candidate with majority of his Chelsea career outside the Bridge since his arrival in 2012.
Maurizio Sarri is believe to be having plans for the Brazilian, but the question remains what are the plans. Sarri during his time in Napoli deployed a 4-3-3 tactics with Higuian at the center forward position. When the Argentine left Napoli to for Juventus in the summer of 2016, the tactician signed Poland center forward Milik but opted to field Mertens in the false 9 position. Mertens impressed in the position and ultimately cemented the spot.
Sarri who currently has Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata in his ranks might be considering another options in the person of Lucas Piazon. The Brazilian have been previously deployed in the position during his time with Dutch side Vitesse. Piazon dazzled in the position as he scored 24 goals in the position. The Brazilian might also excel in the position, based on his experience if Sarri decides to offer him playing chance. Piazon is also a left wide player but might not have playing time considering the quality of players in the position.
Sarri tactics of playing possession football further strengthen the need for a false 9 who could be flexible in games. Morata lacks the flexibility while Giroud lacks the pace to link up players when the Blues are on the break, but Piazon could be the perfect fit for Sarri’s Chelsea setup.
