Manchester United have backed Jose Mourinho, but the Post-Brighton Fallout between Pogba’s agent and Scholes is far from over. It’s no longer news United failed to land most of their targets in the last window, but Mourinho warned of the implication in his first press conference before the new league season commenced.
Mourinho’s job seems to be shaky at the moment, with Zinedine Zidane reportedly lining up to replace the Portuguese tactician. The club which defeated Leicester 2-1 in their league opener, were humbled by Brighton 3-2 last weekend. A senior United source when asked about Zidane replacing Mourinho answered. “Why would we discuss him when there is no job available?” It’s believed that Portuguese have the full support of the Manchester united hierarchy, but he clearly needs to swing into action.
Mourinho’s most crucial factor for success, have been singled out to be making Pogba happy. Pogba have resurfaced in the media, after his agent recent face-off with Scholes. The Manchester united legend questioned the Frenchman’s quality in reaction to the 3-2 defeat to Brighton on Sunday. “Some people need to talk for fear of being forgotten,” Raiola wrote on Twitter. “Paul Scholes wouldn’t recognize a leader if he was in front of Sir Winston Churchill. @paulpogba. Paul Scholes should become sports director and advise Woodward to sell Pogba. Would be sleepless nights to find Pogba a new club @paulpogba”
Raiola’s statement brought the media back to the recent chase of the player by Spanish side Barcelona who reportedly offered £50 Million plus Andre Gomez and Yerry Mina for the World cup winner.
