According to Jose Mourinho, Marcus Rashford can be deployed in any of the front three. The Portuguese tactician defended his use of the forward in his press conference on Friday, though the England international will sit out the trip to Vicarage road due to Suspension.

Questions were raised about the attacker’s best position, considering that he has been deployed in both central and wide position. Jose Mourinho however responded that the three lions forward can feature in a frontline position as he believes in his qualities.

“To be in a system of four, to be a winger, it takes him a little bit out of his positions, but the way Manchester United plays is with three attacking players,” he said. “When we play with three up top – because sometimes we also play with two – our three attacking players are not wingers. They’re not wide or open all the time”. “They have the freedom to come and play in between positions, and any one of the three positions is a good position for him.”

The Portuguese tactician also stated that Rashford featured in the center forward in the international break because of the tactical approach deployed by Garry Southgate.
