Solskjaer has continued to show interest and desire in Marcus Rahsford’s talent with the Norwegian tactician stating that the Manchester United player has the ability to be like fellow countryman Harry Kane.

Rashford is expected to start in the target man position when the Manchester club visits Wembley Stadium to take on Tottenham hotspur in the Premier League.

Rashford and his trainer Solskjaer have been in superb form in their last five outings but Tottenham game poses the biggest test for both the Red Devils trainer and his favoured forward.

“He can become a top, top striker,” said Solskjaer.

“We can talk about Harry Kane and his class and I’m sure Marcus as well. He’s got the potential to get up there.

“He’s got frightening pace, he’s now become stronger and can hold the ball up for us. He’s a great link player.”

Harry Kane has shown consistency in the Premier League for three consecutive season. The three lions forward finished top scorer in the England topflight division for both 2015/2016 season and 2016/2017 season before finishing in second spot to Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah last season.

He won the Golden Boot at last year’s World Cup and this season is joint-top scorer alongside Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on 14 goals.

Rashford began the early stages of his football career in the target position before a managerial change forced him into wide position. However, the arrival of interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has forced him back into his natural habitat.

Solskjaer observing his performance has revealed that his childhood experience in the academy was key.

“Marcus has been brought up here,” he said.

“There were a couple of training sessions here (I watched) with the young kids, and Chongy (Tahith Chong) and Angel (Gomes) and him and Jesse, they played together in a certain way. He’s a very exciting player to work with.”
