According to reports, Chelsea have considered signing Bournemouth fullback Nathan Ake with the Blues considering signing for a price £20 million higher than what he was sold. According to media correspondent The Sun, the London based football outfit is keen on making a summer move for the Dutch international.
It’s no longer news that Chelsea has lacked a dominant left back since the departure of Ashley Cole. Marcos Alonso has been dominant in the position, but the Spaniard lacks the fitness to go for a whole season. Marcos Alonso according to reports is suited more for the wingback position rather than the conventional fullback position. The player’s ability to play in central defense further makes him a worthy candidate considering that Garry Cahill is no more in the club.
Sun further reports that a £40 million buyback clause remains the only hurdle the London club faces in bringing back the player the sold to Eddie Howe’s side back in the summer of 2017.
Ake has formed a crucial part of Eddie Howe’s team, featuring in all their league games in the current football season. He only ever made seven Premier League appearances for Chelsea, with his first coming in 2012 and his last in 2015 before spending the next two seasons out on loan. Ake was named Chelsea’s Young Player of the Year in 2013.
