Manchester United crises in their defense looks set to continue as Chris Smalling looks likely to miss Wednesday UEFA Champion’s league game against Valencia.
The England international was taken off during the weekend in the Manchester club’s 4-1 rout of his former employers Fulham.
According to media handle Daily Mail, the former Fulham defender he will miss Manchester United game against Valencia in the UEFA Champions league.
The defender in recent times has been Jose Mourinho’s most consistent defender, not because he has quality or talent in the position, but the 100 percent service he provides when called upon.
At 29, he has become an integral part of the group and if the club plays without him for any prolonged period of time, that could be a problem. Hopefully, he can play through the pain barrier if that’s what’s required of Smalling, as during the hectic winter period, the games do come thick and fast.
The absence of the three lion’s defender will put manager Jose Mourinho in an awkward situation ahead of Valencia’s visit. Jose Mourinho could be forced into making tactical alteration with Marco Rojo and Eric Bailey pairing. The Portuguese tactician is expected to deploy a 3-4-3 formation based on the recent success enjoyed with it.
