Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has acknowledged the impressive performance of Maurizio Sarri since his arrival to Chelsea in the summer. Sarri replace another Italian Antonio Conte last summer.
The Italian since his arrival at the Bridge, has engineered a new Chelsea side that is yet to taste defeat in competition. The Blues under his watch won their opening five league games, but have been held to a stalemate in their last two games. Last weekend a late attempt from Daniel Sturridge ensured that rivals Liverpool snatched a draw at the Bridge.
Rio Ferdinand monitoring the London club’s performance, have expressed his satisfaction with the immediate impact brought to the club by the Italian.
“He has come in and brought real harmony in this squad as well as belief,” Ferdinand told BT Sport”. “They’ve all got an idea, he’s painted a picture [of what he wants] and they can see it. That’s a huge thing for a manager to be able to do”. “In this short space of time, that’s an achievement in itself.”
The Blues are currently third in the Premier league table, two points behind rival clubs Manchester City and Liverpool. Chelsea however remain unbeaten in all competitions.
The Blues will host Vidi FC at Stamford Bridge in their Europa league game on Thursday. The Blues previous defeated Paok 1-0 in Greece in their Europa League game.
