Portuguese International Cristiano Ronaldo recent sent a message of appreciation to Manchester United supporters for the warm reception he received on his return to Old Trafford last year.
The Portuguese player returned to the theatre of dreams last year with his current club Juventus in the UEFA Champions League, with the Old Lady securing all three points thanks to an early Dybala strike.
This was the second time Ronaldo was visiting the Old Trafford since his departure in the summer of 2009. The forward previously visited the club with his former employers Real Madrid.
Ronaldo was cheered in the game despite wearing an opposing jersey to show how high the Old Trafford faithful holds the Portuguese. The Portuguese international was also respected by both players on the pitch.
When asked to reflect on his 2018 football year, the Portuguese forward was quick to extend his warm appreciation to the Manchester United supporters.
“Manchester? It was a great comeback, the Manchester fans have always welcomed me like when I played at Old Trafford,” he told Portuguese outlet Record.
“Even the Santiago Bernabeu was my home for many years and will always be a very special stadium for me.
“I will always have a great affection for that club and those fans with great pleasure and I expect to be well received.”
