Recent revelations made available by the media shows that Cristiano Ronaldo was filled with disgust when former employers Real Madrid allowed German international Mesuit Ozil to depart the club for Arsenal in the summer of 2013.
The former Manchester United forward was of the opinion that the German international was a crucial player who he linked up with perfectly on the pitch.
Mesuit Ozil at that time was already an established creative midfielder who knew how to deliver the ball in the final third, but business style of Madrid President Fiorentino Perez forced the German who wanted gametime out of the Spanish capital. Perez decision to land Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur after missing out Brazilian forward Neymer to rivals is believed to be what pushed the midfielder out.
Ronaldo who seemingly was benefiting from the Brilliance of the German did little to hide his frustration when confronted by the media.
The transfer took place very quickly.
“At the weekend I was sure that I would stay at Real Madrid but then I realised that I didn’t have the confidence of the coach or the board,” Ozil continued.
“I am the kind of player that needs this faith and that is what I felt from Arsenal and that is why I joined them.”
