Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been crowned champions of Africa after defeating South Africa’s Bayana Bayana 4-3 on penalties in Saturday’s final of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

Despite creating goal scoring chances, both teams failed to break the deadlock after regulation time and extra time to put the game on penalties.

3. ‘I Spoke To Iheanacho, He Said There Was No Contact’ – Watford’s Success Insists Capoue Was Harshly Sent Off

Isaac Success has stated that his teammate, Etienne Capoue, was harshly sent off in the closing minutes of his Watford’s 2-0 loss to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Frenchman received his marching orders after what appeared to be a strong two-footed challenge on Kelechi Iheanacho, but Success has suggested that referee Graham Scott made the wrong call, with the Foxes number eight admitting that there was no contact made.

4. Cameroon stripped of 2019 AFCON hosting rights

Cameroon will no longer host the 2019 edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). The country was knocked out on account of inadequate facilities and security.

CAF executive committee at an extraordinary meeting in Accra on Friday decided to strip the country of the rights and has now invited fresh hosting bids.

5. Ebi emotional over Women’s Player of the Year nomination.

The HENAN FC of China defender who has been a solid rock for the Falcons at 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations became emotional after her name made the list and took to her Instagram handle to share her story. “Two years ago I thought I wouldn’t be able to play again after an injury that kept me out of the game for a year.

I am just so grateful to have been shortlisted for the CAF Women’s African Footballer of the year award for 2018. Honored to be recognized and I thank God and my awesome teammates because without God none of this would have been possible.”
