Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been crowned champions of Africa after defeating South Africa’s Bayana Bayana 4-3 on penalties in Saturday’s final of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

4. Cameroon stripped of 2019 AFCON hosting rights

Cameroon will no longer host the 2019 edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). The country was knocked out on account of inadequate facilities and security.

CAF executive committee at an extraordinary meeting in Accra on Friday decided to strip the country of the rights and has now invited fresh hosting bids.

5. Ebi emotional over Women’s Player of the Year nomination.

The HENAN FC of China defender who has been a solid rock for the Falcons at 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations became emotional after her name made the list and took to her Instagram handle to share her story. “Two years ago I thought I wouldn’t be able to play again after an injury that kept me out of the game for a year.

I am just so grateful to have been shortlisted for the CAF Women’s African Footballer of the year award for 2018. Honored to be recognized and I thank God and my awesome teammates because without God none of this would have been possible.”
