Morata despite his form at Chelsea, has emerged a surprise target for Spanish giants Barcelona, with the Catalans to seal the deal when the January transfer window starts.

Morata has struggled to cement his place as Chelsea top striker since he arrived from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017. According to reports the Spanish international seems to have fallen out of favour with current Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri, with the Italian opting to feature Olivier a Giroud as his a main forward.

Media handle Mirror has it that Morata’s agent has been in touch with the Catalonia based football club over a possible switch in January. A season long loan have also been speculated with a potential option to permanent the move by the summer.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus forward seems to be lacking game time at the Bridge, as Frenchman Olivier Giroud has been preferred in the position.

Last weekend Morata was not in the matchday squad with Sarri opting to deploy Eden Hazard in the number 9 role.

Barcelona are seeking cover for Luis Suarez, who is receiving treatment for a knee injury that could restrict his availability over the course of the campaign.

Munir have failed to leave up to expectations, while Messi and Dembele are used in wide position.

Morata may prove an unpopular choice given his history, having come through the Real Madrid academy.
