Fulham has emerged as a surprise suitor for Chelsea’s Garry Cahill with the winter window approaching. Reports have it that Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri is in need of a defender as he aims to drag the cottagers who currently sit in 20th position, away from the relegation zone.
Chelsea according to reports, are willing to let Garry Cahill go considering his contract expires next summer. Fulham understanding Cahill’s condition at Chelsea are willing to offer the 32yr old defender an exit route on either loan deal or permanent deal during the January window.
Ranieri is believed to have earmarked the former England international’s experience as being a potentially crucial element in his side’s battle against the drop.
Fulham however will have to beat Premier League rivals West Ham and Southampton who are reportedly linked with the experienced former Bolton Wanderers defender.
Fulham have the worst defensive record in the Premier League this season and are in the market for a new centre-back despite signing three during the summer.
Cahill has been with Chelsea since 2012 and has won every trophy available at the club, but he has only made one Premier League appearance so far.
