Alex Iwobi have reportedly signed a new deal with club side Arsenal. Alex Iwobi have signed a new deal, that will keep him at the Emirates till 2022. The 22yr old Nigerian international according to Completesportnigeria, was linked with Italian side Lazio for £22.5 million earlier in the summer but has decided to extend his contract with the North London club. The new deal is expected to keep him at the Emirates till 2023.

The Nigerian international who grew up from the ranks of the London team, have featured for Arsenal 98 times with 9 goals dating back to his debut in 2015. The 22yr old in his press interview said. “From young, it has always been my dream to represent Arsenal. The first kit I had was Arsenal and long may I continue to respect them”.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery expressed his delight at the player’s decision. Emery said, “I am pleased Alex has signed a new contract”. Emery also added, “He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the academy through hardwork and I look forward to working with him and our other talented players in the squad”.

Iwobi joins teammates Calum Chambers and Granit Xhaka in extending contract with the North London club. Arsenal continue to prepare for the new season with their pre-season game against Lazio on Saturday, ahead of their Premier league opener against reigning champions Manchester city on the 12th of August.
