West Ham have been linked with a move for Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud according to report. The Mirror report that the Hammers is lining up a shock move for the 2018 World Cup winner as they continue their search for a new number 9.

Giroud is yet to net a goal for the Blues in the current season, but his holdup play as well as contribution to overall game of the West London club, has made Chelsea manager Sarri to prefer him over Alvaro Morata in the centre-forward position.

And this have place the Frenchman on the radar of the Hammers, as the London club views him as the only player with the quality to compete with their striker Marko Arnautovic.

According to report, West Ham have been keeping tabs with the player since his arrival to Arsenal from Bordeaux. The Hammers were among the list of clubs that made offer for the former Arsenal forward in January before he eventually opted to join the Chelsea.

Giroud’s current contract with Chelsea will expire next summer and the player could depart on Bosman terms. West Ham is aware of the player’s contract terms with the Blues and are ready to test the water in January in the event that Chelsea refuses to offer the Frenchman an extension.
