Sunday Oliseh was recently show the exit door out of Fortuna Sittard as the former Super Eagle’s player put to and end his 2 year managerial stint at the Dutch club. This is not the first time as he previous managed the Nigerian National team but failed to impress as the side failed to qualify for their Biannual Continental competition.
The manner and cause of his dismissal has been a surprise on the surface considering how well Fortuna have done under his guidance. The details of his divorce with the club still remain unclear as the Nigerian was once touted to be a man destined for greatness with his ambition and intelligence which have enabled him to tread where most of his peers are dreaming of. His work will be remembered by Fortuna for years to come: taking a team of 21-year-olds to the incredible performance as their future is not limited to qualifying for the Eredivise. He also brought financial stability to the club by player sales with the highly rated defender Perr Schurrs has moving to giants Ajax.
With his personality though, His football is essentially structured and lacks flexibility which was confirmed from during his time with the super eagles. This becomes a question that will guide his managerial career. The fundamental truth that seems to elude many is that Oliseh is an African: Africans simply do not get jobs coaching in professional European leagues, and while some of that might be traced to insidious racism, another reason is the perception that they can be hard to deal with. By the latest event, he has managed to affirm the perception. It will be difficult for a major club to trust a man that will perceive as a loose cannon. Not only that, but by his poor judgment, he has probably ruined it for other hopefuls behind him.

Whatever the truth is regarding the allegations Oliseh has made, the messy nature of the divorce is bound to limit his chances of land his dream job in future.
